Privacy Policy

TL;DR: Glyph watch faces read sensor data from your watch to display it on the face. They do not send anything to the internet, do not include analytics or tracking, do not share your data with anyone. The only thing stored is your preference settings (theme, complication slots) on the watch itself.
Glyph is a catalog of watch faces for Garmin Connect IQ devices. This page explains exactly what data each watch face reads, where it lives, and what we share with third parties. It is written to comply with Garmin's Connect IQ Store privacy requirements, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for users in those jurisdictions.
Glyph is an independent project developed in Spain. The data controller is Rodrigo Menéndez Calvo, an individual developer based in Spain (European Union). You can reach the controller at [email protected] for any privacy-related question.
Glyph is not affiliated with Garmin Ltd. Garmin's own privacy policy governs your relationship with the Connect IQ Store, your watch, and Garmin Connect; you can find it at garmin.com/privacy.
Glyph watch faces use the Connect IQ APIs to read the following data and render it on screen. Data is read only when the watch face is active or in always-on display mode. Reading happens entirely on the device and the data never leaves your watch.
| Data type | Why we read it |
|---|---|
| Time, date, time zone, 12/24h preference | To display the hero clock. |
| Heart rate (current value only) | For the optional Heart Rate complication. |
| Step count + daily goal | For the Steps complication and the progress arc. |
| Battery percentage | For the Battery complication. |
| Active minutes, calories, floors, body battery, stress | For the corresponding complications, on devices that support them. |
| Weather temperature | For the Weather complication. Supplied by the Garmin Connect mobile app on your phone, not by us. |
| Notification count and phone-connected state | For the notification dot indicator. Counts only — we never read the contents of any message. |
Each Glyph watch face declares a single Garmin Connect IQ permission in its manifest:
We do not request access to location/GPS, contacts, stored messages, or any other Garmin permission.
The only data Glyph stores is your personal preference settings for each watch face:
These settings live in Garmin's own Application Storage on your watch, and they sync to your Garmin Connect account so the face remembers your preferences if you switch devices. The settings never leave the Garmin ecosystem. We never see, store, or process them on any server of ours because we do not operate any server.
Nothing. Glyph watch faces do not make network requests, do not connect to any external server, do not include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. The watch face runs entirely on-device.
The Glyph marketing website is a static page hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It does not set first-party tracking cookies. Cloudflare may log standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, referrer, timestamp) at the edge for the limited purposes of security and abuse prevention; this metadata is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy and is not accessible to us in a personally identifiable form.
The website may include a small form to be notified when the catalog launches. If we activate the form and you submit your email address, it will be processed by a third-party form provider on our behalf for the sole purpose of sending you a single launch announcement. We will delete the address after the launch email is sent. We will not share it with any third party for marketing purposes. We never combine collected emails with any data read by the watch face. As of the "last updated" date above, the form is not yet wired to a live provider; any submitted email is discarded without storage.
If you contact us at [email protected], we keep the message and your email address only as long as needed to answer you, and we don't share either with anyone.
Because the data controller is established in the European Union, the GDPR applies to any personal data we process about EU residents. If you are in California, equivalent rights exist under CCPA. You have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights write to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR Art. 6): consent (Art. 6.1.a) for the waitlist email if and when active; legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f) for security logs at the website edge and for answering support requests.
Cloudflare Pages serves the website from a global content delivery network. The static HTML, CSS and JavaScript files of the site may be cached in datacenters worldwide, including outside the European Economic Area. No personal data of yours is transferred this way — only the public static files. If a future waitlist provider is in the United States or another jurisdiction, we will use one with Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Glyph is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe your child has provided us with their email address through the waitlist, contact us and we will delete the record immediately.
Because Glyph watch faces process your data only on-device, there is no server attack surface on our side. The marketing website is a static page served over HTTPS by Cloudflare Pages.
If the watch faces ever need to add new data sources or any kind of off-device communication, we will update this page and bump the "last updated" date at the top. We will never add tracking, analytics or third-party advertising to the watch faces — that is a hard line. For substantive changes that affect your rights, we will publish a summary of the changes at the top of this page for at least 30 days.
Questions about privacy, requests for data deletion, or anything else? Write to [email protected]. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.
